With this new series, Renee duRocher remains loyal to her historical strictures as well as to her simultaneous accounts of the past, the future, and the present. However, new subjects are introduced in these works and enable her ideas and concepts to progress. The most preponderant symbolic element is without a doubt the presence of clay statuettes, a reference to the thousands which were discovered in the grave of China’s first emperor, Quin Shihuang Di. These soldiers of Xian, uncovered after more than 2000 years, are a fascinating symbol of survival and immortality. reference to the thousands which were discovered in the grave of China’s first emperor, Quin Shihuang Di.
